It's like Craigslist Hunt for music.
Here's a simple question: what is the best movie theme tune you can think of? My vote, at least right now, goes to the Incredibles. It's so jazzy!

That's Wayne Bergeron doing all the amazing trumpet work on that soundtrack. Bergeron is one of, if not the, top studio trumpet player in the country. An amazing player.

John Williams wins it all. And Raiders is king.
For mediocre movies the Pink Panther films also have a great theme.

Michael Giocchino is brilliant, no doubt, but my favorites are the Bond Theme/themes. Actually everything James Bond not sung by Cheryl Crow.

As for Awesome Sweeping Scores, I submit Dragonheart
, The Last of the Mohicans
, and probably the best one, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
They're old favorites for Inspirational Olympics Montages. I adore them all.

My three favorite (off top of my head) are...
the three main leitmotif (The Shire, Rohan, and Gondor) from the Lord of the Rings series by Howard Shore,
and
the main theme for Star Trek: First Contact by Jerry and Joel Goldsmith,
and
the main theme for Empire Strikes Back by the incomparable John Williams.

I wouldn't say it's the best ever, but here's one of my favourites. The end titles to Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events by Thomas Newman.
